Replacing Driver Side Door Mirror on 2000 Kia Spectra

I need to know if there is a way to disconnect the mirror from the mirror mounting assembly and if so how to do that. I have purchased a replacement mirror from salvage(old one snapped above the mounting bracket) and its a different color than original. I would like to just swap out the mounting bracket and keep original mirror but haven't been able to get the adjuster cables to release to successfully disconnect the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated
