NOT a good idea, it would make it almost impossible to drive in the rain, more likely to break an axle, id leave it alone till ya can afford a good posi unit

Yea definately NOT a good idea! Another cheap solution is to shim your spider gears. On my s10 that I had I shimmed the side gears closer to the spider gears and made it all tight. I drove that truck on the street and it worked fine for me. I even ran it at Mokan like that and it helped me hook up since I was able to do a burn out with both slicks instead of just the one tire. This is a fairly cheap solution but it's definately not as easy as it sounds to do tho. Lol

give me a call i can tell you how to do it and make it last the longest but like every one else said. its like a mini spool sooner or later it will pop you need c clip elinators
but i do this in my crawlers and i can get it to hold up to 40's for a good while and the axle is what brakes first pm me and i will give you my number :layrubber:

Here's what I did in my old Trooper. Didn't just weld the gears together...I cut 3/8"thick pieces of steel and welded them inside all the gears...did this on both sides. It was strong and worked great off-road. I drove it on the street too, but it ate up tires and embarrassed the wife when we were screeching around a parking lot.

I think it would work OK. I had a buddy MIG weld mine just so it wouldn't be quite as messy.
