f150 Heater went out?

Postby 84foxbox on Mon Nov 25, 2013 7:55 pm

05 F150. Just drove it this morning and it blows air just will not get warm even after 40 mins of driving. Anyone know what it could be?. I felt carpet under dash board and its all dry thinking heatercore was leaking. And it has correct amount of coolant. Let me know.

Check to see if the vents run off vacuum. I have had the vacuum line go bad and not operate the vents. Just a thought. Does it blow out any heat anywhere? The vacuum thing happened on a 90s era truck so not 100% on something that new.

Probably the blend door to the heater core is stuck. It can be hard to get to, most are behind the dash. There are at least (2) two blend doors. One is for the heater core the other is for the vents.
We had a Ford Windstar van we had to move the door by hand every winter. Ford says you have to remove the dash to change it, the cost at Ford was very high. It is a very common problem with all Fords.
Hope this helps.

If the heat gage show's normal operating temp and you can hear the blend doors move then you might try back flushing the heater core some of them have the inlet and outlet on top so this cause's them to fill with rust you can push enough out for it to work

I talked to Foxbox/No2 and he said the damn thing started working again the next time out. I do have a friend that had to replace his heater core on a F250 V10 the other day, he's hot again. Thanks for the advice Everyone!

Those years of fords were notorious for the impeller wheel coming apart in the water pump.
Thats the classic symptom no heat, guage will show normal temp, seen several with exact problem
Most likely your water pump

Might try to check for HVAC codes with a good scanner. If its electrical like a blend door motor it will have stored a code.
